Our Space

We have carefully restored every original detail at 16 Hudson St. Interior designer, Anthony D’Argenzio (Owner of  Zio & Sons  and  This Old Hudson)  has included his lighting, tile, and furniture collections, along with hand-selected vintage elements.  Expect an elegant, cozy atmosphere, inspired by trattorias of the Old World.

The Wine Program

Our program focuses on low-intervention wines from islands and coasts of Western Europe. We pay homage to these ethical, small-scale producers with 10 rotating wines by the glass, and another 10 by the bottle.
Owner and Wine Director, Hillary Zio was inspired to open Isola after almost 20 years of extensive European travel as a wine writer and certified sommelier. She believes there's a message in every bottle, but especially fond of mineral-driven, unique wines that over-deliver. After a decade in the Hudson Valley, Hillary strives to create a meeting point for un-snobbish wine lovers to taste, pair, discover and share.  Read more about  Hillary Zio .

The Cuisine

The gastronomic offering includes tempting small plates, inspired by the islands and coasts of Europe. Authentic simplicity and balance are the focus, while incorporating local ingredients whenever possible. Expect artful plates like tuna crudo, chicken liver mousse and steak tartare.

Our chef, Mikayla Summers, trained under New York City greats like Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Dan Barber before building a celebrated career as a private chef and recipe developer. Her cooking is guided by seasonality and responsibly farmed ingredients—a philosophy rooted in her California childhood spent exploring farmers’ markets with her mom. When she’s not in the kitchen, you’ll find her hiking with her dog Louie or tending her garden.

Our Mission

Isola is committed to making the lowest earth imprint possible. We are plastic-free whenever possible and recognize the current impact it has on all living things. Petroleum is present in most plastic products, which is a fossil fuel proven to contribute to global heating. Our pantry items, beverages and to-go containers are made of environmentally sound, even benign, materials. Join us in reducing single-use plastics and supporting sustainable solutions.
